The Bulldog Club of America (BCA) is the parent club for Bulldogs within the American Kennel Club. It represents the interests of all bulldog clubs in the country and, as with parent clubs for other breeds, serves as the owner and defender of the breed standard of its breed in the US for all AKC registered Bulldogs. BCA is the definitive source of Bulldog information in the US.
BCA is a national organization, structured in a manner similar to that of our national government. The Club is governed nationally by a representative Council and National Officers. The country is divided into eight (8) geographical areas called Divisions, where the work of the club is conducted. Information about the Divisions and clubs can be found under Local Information.
The Divisions of the Club are as follows:
Division 1. Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Division 2. Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Division 3. Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada.
Division 4. Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.
Division 5. Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
Division 6. Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Division 7. District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
DIvision 8. Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.
The Executive Committee consists of consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, AKC Delegate and the Members of the Council elected from the Division hosting the Executive Committee for the 2-year period. The Officers are nominated every 2 years by a Divisional Board of Directors in numerical order and on a rotating basis. Unless the Council nomnates a canditate, thereby requiring an election, the nominated slate takes office. The Executive Committee are the administrative officers of the Club during their term of office, responsible for implementing the policies established by the Council.
