Organization

 

The Bulldog Club of America (BCA) is the parent club for Bulldogs within the American Kennel Club.  It represents the interests of all bulldog clubs in the country and, as with parent clubs for other breeds, serves as the owner and defender of the breed standard of its breed in the US for all AKC registered Bulldogs.  BCA is the dkefinitive source of Bulldog information in the US.

 

BCA is a national organization, structured in a manner similar to that of our national government. The Club is governed nationally by a representative Council and National Officers. The country is divided into eight (8) geographical areas called Divisions, where the work of the club is conducted.

 

The Divisions of the Club are as follows:

 

Division 1. Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

 

Division 2. Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

 

Division 3. Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada.

 

Division 4. Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

 

Division 5. Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

 

Division 6. Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.

 

Division 7. District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

 

DIvision 8. Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.

 

The Executive Committee exercises the executive authority of the Club.  The Officers are nominated biennially by the Board of Directors of a Division on a rotating basis in numerical order.  Unless, the Council nomnates a canditate, thereby requiring an election, the nominated slate takes office.  The Executive Committee consists of consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, AKC Delegate and the Councilors elected from the Division hosting the Executive Committee for that biennium.

 

The legislative responsibility is vested in a Council consisting of Councilors proportionally elected from each Division by the members of that Division.

 

The Club’s governance documents include its Constitution, National By Laws, Division By Laws and Standard Operating Procedures.
